Jane Visvader (PhD, University of Adelaide) trained as a postdoctoral fellow at the Salk Institute, San Diego, before her appointment as Group Leader at the Walter & Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research. Here she established the Breast Cancer Laboratory jointly with Prof. Geoff Lindeman. The primary objective of the lab is to characterise the breast epithelial differentiation hierarchy to better understand the relationship between normal cells and tumour cells in different subtypes of breast cancer. Prof. Visvader’s notable achievements include election as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science (2012), and award of the NHMRC Australia Fellowship (2011-2015), The Lemberg Medal for Excellence in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2016), the Ramaciotti Medal for Excellence in Biomedical Research (joint; 2016) and the Victoria Prize in the Life Sciences (joint; 2017).
